I was wondering how much over hang  of arrow would be too much?  I am shooting 5575 GT with a 125 gr tip and 50gr weight on back of insert.  I draw right at 28" at 51 lbs. I think that I am going to have to shoot nearly a full length arrow to keep from being over spined. Then does too much over hang really matter?  Sorry for all the questions, still trying to figure out this trad.  Thanks ahead of time for all the help, hope all is well, GOD BLESS!!!!

There is no problem with overhang whatsoever. Don't worry about it.

I have a 30" draw and my arrows are cut 32" in length. I have 2" of over hang.

The longer the better-then you don't have to shoot as far!

Does not matter at all except for some gap shooters if they are trying to tune for a certain point on distance.

I always tune carbon arrows by length.

Seriously though, I see a lot of carbon arrow shooters that have very long arrows. That just goes with shootin' carbon. Don't worry 'bout it.

I shoot carbons and only have an inch past the bow.

If you want a shorter arrow, step down to a 35/55.

FWIW, I shoot CE Heritage, either 150 or 250 depending on the bow, and like to leave about 1.5" in front of my bow hand, so I shoot my at 31.5" out of a 29.25" draw. From everything I've been told, Bjorn is right - at least until they get too long to stay in your quiver.

Carbon arrows don't come in as many different spines as wood or aluminum.Like GT's,they have 35/55,55/75 and 75/95 thats just three basic static spines.So pick one and you adjust the dynamic spine by shooting or trimming and or adding weight to get the flight and dynamic spine that fits you and your bow.Trying to get a carbon with a little overhang can be hit or miss.I don't worry about length with carbons,just the way it is.If they are longer then you like you might try the next lower spine and tune from there.

I shoot the same arrow out of a recurve I have and a longbow. It's about a half inch past it on my recurve and an inch and a half on my longbow. Flies great either bow.

I have always left 1" of shaft for safety.  I shoot off the point, but that changes a bit as the points are changed. The arrows may also differ if you shoot bows with varying rest/shelf lengths.

e.g. field point = short
Bear Razorhead = medium
Wenzel Wodds. = long

etc.

Shoot what you will hunt with a bit before you hunt to fine tune - that ought to do it.

If you don't care, then it doesn't matter.  It's all just a personal decision.

Nope, dont matter. But like Badger said, if want them shorter you can go with 35/55 or another 500 spine shaft.
