Ladies and Gentlemen: For years I have been trading primaries and/or finished fletching for unwanted secondaries and tail feathers. I prefer the secondaries and tail feathers to have their quills intact. I trade 1 pound of #1 quality primaries for 2 pounds of secondary wing feathers with quills intact or trade pound for pound on tail feathers. If you don't mind using #2 primaries the amount you get for your secondaries and tails doubles. Now keep in mind the worth of these feathers decrease in half if you shear them from the wing or tail.  I actually much prefer that the wings and tails be kept whole and I will separate the feathers from the wing or tail clump on my end. Using borax is the key to this. It keeps the bugs away and stops the decomposition of the wings and tails. You can view my video on this subject. The link is  www.customfeathers.com/feathers.htm  .

I also trade the "grinding" of your preferred primaries (LW or RW) for the opposite side and/or simply trade primaries for primaries. We do this by weight and not count as the size and quality of primaries widely differ. I also will "grind" your suitable primaries for a flat fee of $.45 for each feather which includes shipping back to you.

If you are intertested in trading, having feathers ground, or just have questions, feel free to contact me anytime either by phone or e-mail Thanks! David Mitchell-Custom Feathers

David,

Thanks for the video.  Hoping to send you as many as possible again this spring.  One question, between boraxing and sending them to you should we put them in the freezer, or just let them dry with the borax?  Are bugs a concern?

Ry: No need to put them in the freezer. The borax is a good drying agent and prevents the bugs from chomping on the feathers.

Thanks Charlie for the bump!

How about already plucked.  I will go through all my wing feathers.  What about lw primaries for rw primaries?
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Hello Darlin'

TTT for Dave, Its only been youth season here, but I already have 8 sets of wings and one fan to send you.

I have traded with Dave for a couple of years and he is great.

I let the word out early to everyone I know that turkey hunts that I want their wings if they are just going to throw them away.
