I've been trying to re- fletch a carbon shaft using superglue gel and the glue won't get set up. I'm wondering if I'm not getting enough pressure against the shaft. I'm using a bitzenberger jig and have been fletching aluminums with it for twenty years with no problem. Is CA glue dependent on pressure to set up?

JRY309

It may be a bad batch of CA glue,I prefer to put wraps on carbons and use Platinum Fletch tite.Works great,it doesn't set as fast as CA but is dependable.Haven't had any problems with it.Maybe it is reacting to the carbon shaft?

Bjorn

That's likely the culprit, CA only works when tight. On some diameter shafting it is hard to get the clamp down as well-noticed that wirh some really skinny Sweetlands.

Falk

CA depends on moisture content in the surrounding air to set. Maybe you'r overheating your shop?   :campfire:

If you like super glue, switch to Goat Tuff.  Won't have that problem.

Mist it with a little water or get some CA kicker....O.L.

Like O.L. said,go to a local hobbie shop and buy some kicker ,it will set it up instantly! Won't hurt the  strength any at all.I use it all the time on the gel stuff, thin will set up faster. You can also breath on the shaft like you would on your glasses, that will put some moisture on it to make it set faster.Good luck J.Q.

Thanks everyone. I tried again with more pressure and I thin they are gonna stay. I was just re-fletching my ditchbank arrow that I shoot out the garage door when I get the urge. It"s 54 in my garage and raining outside so I think its enough moisture. I opened up my fletchtite platinum this morning and it was goo so I thought I would try something new.
