I recently bought a Shrew Classic Hunter, 51"@28 - great bow, very light, etc., but it's also pretty noisy. I've been shooting Carbon Express 150's from it with a 145 grain field point.  I know Ron says to use a heavier spined arrow than the weight calls for and the weight is borderline 150 v. 250.  Do you think that 250's would reduce the noise?  Should I go all the way up to 350's?If not, any other ideas.

Tuneing the bow will reduce the noise.You don't need a heavier spined arrow.jmo

I recently bought the same bow- classic hunter 51# @28". It was a little noisier than I expected. I made the wool silencers (as posted here) by wrapping wool yarn around a credit card about 20-25 times, inserting the the wool between the strands of the bow string (at 1/4 length of the string at both ends.) and then cutting the loops of yarn. I also twisted the string about three times. I am shooting 250's (just for a starting place as I had some on hand. The bow is very, very quiet now. I am no expert on arrow selection, but going to 350's would be my last option. I was actually thinking of trying 150's just to see what would happen, but the 250's seem to be working.

Sounds like the right arrow to me and it is plenty heavy. Try moving the silencers closer to the limb tips or further.

I am shooting two almost Identical recurves. One is 49@28 the other 54@28.  I am shooting CE250 heritage out of both. Shafts cut to 30" 100g insert and 125g points Fletch 5".  I bareshafted the arrows for the 54@28. When I got the 48@28 I figured I would give them a try.
