Hey guys -

I'm lookin at tanning my own hides and I want something that is easy to do.     A friend of mine strongly recommended Krowtann 2000. Anyone use that? Likes? Dislikes?

works great i am by no means an expert but have tanned a good deal of hides and i have found the most important step is fleshing the hide really well

I agree with you on that step.    I can get the hides already salted and fleshed. I was just wanting to know where to go from there.  

If you were under the age of 12 and wanted to get your hide tanned I'd suggest soaking the green hide in bacon grease and hanging it in a dark closet for 6 weeks.  In my Father's house that would have been the best way to get your hide tanned.     :D
