What's In Your Arrowmaster?

Whip

On a recent hunt I was led on a merry little chase by the toughest little javalina in Texas.

I had been set up in a ground blind, and stalked a bevy of javis from there.  I had a wounded javi slipping from tangle to tangle, and I followed along trying in vain to get another shot.

Hindsight revealed a number of things to me:

1) Javalina are tough animals
2) Better judgement would have been to leave the animal and return either after dark or in the morning
3) All bushes in Texas are the same height and shape
4) My daypack contained my compass, GPS, flashlight, and all survival gear I normally carry
5) My daypack was back in the ground blind and I had no idea where that was!!!!!   :readit:    I knew where I was.        I just didn't know which direction I needed to walk  to get out.    :help:      :help:

Not wanting to go through that again, I packed up the pocket in my Arrowmaster quiver with the essential items I want to have with me at all times from now on.  I was amazed at how much this handy little pocket holds!

That Rod is sure one smart guy to design such a functional quiver.  Now all that's needed is smart hunters to carry the right gear in it!

Here is my unloaded quiver pocket

There is still room left, but for now the list of what will be in my Arrowmaster includes:
Compass
GPS
Flashlight
Licence/Tags
Knife
Pruning Shears
Rubber Gloves
Space Blanket
Lighter
Fire Starting block and steel wool
Lenght of cord
Flagging Tape

I will still carry a daypack for extra clothing, water, snacks, spare knife, etc.  But the things I always want with me will stay in my quiver!  What a great product!

Mine should be here, tomorrow.

I was kinda just hoping if I ever got into that predicament......that I just had a PHONE....lol.

Whip

You are all to right man, it seems when you need it the most you don't have it, no matter what "it" is...

Great idea packing that little pocket with essentials, no if you could just remember your quiver....

Joe, I have:

Extra String
2 Extra tabs
Lighter
Flashlight
Headlamp
Extra Compass

I had 2 friends get lost this past season. They spent the night in the woods, the temps dropped from the 30's to the single digits in a matter of hours. With 15 inches of snow falling they couldn't see 10 yards and got turned around very quick and walked in circles. their tracks got covered quickly so they decided to hunker down for the night under a cedar tree. They were NOT prepared in the least bit. They were very lucky even though only an hour and a half from home!

I usually have some arrows in mine too  :knothead:

Chris Surtees

I do not have one "yet" but just had to ask what kind of knife is that? I really like sharp pointy things:)

By the way Whip today the first day "The Bow" is going to have an arrow put through it.

Chris

Whip

Oh yeah, and arrows too!  :knothead:  But they don't fit in the pocket  :p

Chris, that is one of Tippit's blades from the St. Jude auction a few years ago.  This one was made before he got all famous so I got a good deal on it.   :D    The beautiful sheath was done by Brian (Carbon Caster)  They go everywhere with me.  Often times it will be on my belt though - I don't forget it there either.

Now Whip all you got to do is remember the quiver next time you slip out of the blind.

I always carry some blood on mine:^)!!

Just curious, and not meaning to hijack this thread...how many arrows are you all able to carry in the arrowmaster?

Chris...you only need one.   :saywhat:
I have firemakin's, cigarette makin's, 2 small flashlights, a knife or two, bow stringer, empty plastic bags, maybe some string, some food and a small bottle of water.

Down in the bottom is some kind of mint that I ran across and need to identify. Smells like catnip.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Bowspirit, I'm not sure what the maximum capacity is, but it's a bunch!  Bunny arrows with judo?  I don't know, maybe a dozen or so?  With broadheads well spaced out probably 7 or 8?  More than I normally carry, that's for sure.  But it is really nice to be able to carry a good supply of broadheads and still have room for a few stumpers.

Killy, I'm not sure I would put that in my mouth     Are you sure Rod didn't leave a little hunk of his snuff in yours before he mailed it??

Rod, I really enjoy my quiver that I picked up at Kzoo, can,t wait to get out in the woods with it!! Now, if I could just shoot like you, I would be alright.

wallflower

depends where I am but usually contains the following:
tab
glove (as a backup)
bottle of water
extra tips & nocks
baby powder (citrus scent)
pens/pencils
bowstringer
stringkeeper
hat
sunglasses

that's about it.  bout the same amount you'd find in a 'typical' woman's purse...my purse doesn't hold that much though.

Mike Orton

Rod sent me some of the material he uses to make those nice quivers....I used it to modify my arrowmaster a bit with a sheath for my hand axe.

I just feel more comfortable taking my axe with me......
