Of the nearly 20,000 "Trad Gang" members how many took deer in 2008? This was my first year back in bowhunting after a few years away due to job changes ect..... and i was blanked out again as usual and was wondering who else took deer and how many were like me. I think it's a great accomplishment to do it year in and year out knowing what it takes just to put your self in a position to just get a shot.
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.

I could not be truthful on the poll as there was no spot for never getting one with Trad gear.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Poll should have read 2008-2009 season I would think.Kip

Not very opportunities in our state--cannot shoot does in most areas--very few permits for that- Last year was dry for me  - 1 buck in 07.

CBH,  that is awesome! I cast the first vote and as I said I went home empty handed with my bow (did take one with my rifle   ) And since 1989 when I started with Traditional gear I have taken only 1       but i keep trying and wouldn't trade that one for any other over the years.

Is the question deer killed for 2008 or for 2009?
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

John, I hunt on my own property which has several deer on it! I can just walk out the door and be in any one of my many stands within a few minutes. It's a huge advantage to be able to hunt nearly every day of the season.   :bigsmyl:

Ken, it's for 2008 sorry!

Chris that is a blessing, i have hunted with my bow off and on since 1989 and i usually can get my stands in good locations and see deer but, this year has been tough. Hunting new land and still trying to figure them out and i could learn a few things from other and this site is great for that.

Would one of the Mod's please edit my poll to show 2008 in the title block and if possible to add one more selection to the 2nd question "Not Yet" answers?

South MS     La. season entends from Oct. to Feb.I hunted from Oct.to Jan.missed in Oct. and killed Jan. 3rd.I think it should comprise the season and not a year.

Friends call me Pac

2008 was my first season with trad gear. All of my hunting is on public land. Got two and missed two.  One miss was 15 yards and I grazed the only branch in view.

The other miss was a shot I should not have taken in the first place.  The yardage was right at 20 yards but the deer was directly behind my treestand and I had to lean way out to take the shot.

On the plus side I have learned if it doesn't feel right I shouldn't shoot.

We have one week left and I plan to hunt and camp all week trying for another.
