Does anyone use pop up blinds for predator hunting? I use one regularly for turkey but have not tried using one for predators. Have you had success with this method?

When I say "predators" I'm thinking mostly of foxes and raccoons... while using a remote caller 12-15 yards from the blind.

You don't need any kind of a blind for racoons. I don't think you need to use one for foxes coyotes etc. either, but a moving decoy to keep their attention is a big help.

A buddy of mine ties off a white rag or anything that'll flip around in a breeze while he's calling to take the look off him--says it works really well.  By the way, where abouts is Rockport?  I've got property up in French Creek (near Weston)

A bird wing or piece of rabbit fur on a thread works fine if there is a breeze blowing.

I have heard a fox will ignore a blind just like a turkey does. I don't know about coyotes, I never used a blind coyote hunting.

My experience is that most animals come running in a very few minutes or they don't come at all, I've heard cats take longer, but I've never had one come in no matter how long I waited. The blind would work no doubt, but personally I'm moving every half hour or so at most and wouldn't go to the effort of carrying and setting up a blind for that. Now if I was calling cougars or bears, I might do it different!

I have used the ameristep penthouse, and had coyotes come right in no problem.

Thanks for all the responses. I have taken many predators with firearms and have never used a blind... just figured the blind might be advantageous for using the bow. My doghouse blind is light enough that I can hike with it on my back, no problem.

Rockport is about 20 miles south of Parkersburg, which is on the western side of WV... along the Ohio river. I'm familiar with the French Creek area as I had relatives at Rockcave at one time.

Predators and rabbits is about all that is open for hunting at this time here.
