Are there hats designed so that you can wear them and still shoot (without turning them backwards).

I'm aware of the Bear styles....but I was wondering if there were other offerings.

Any hat that has a soft brim will do.  You can also cut a regular bill down a bit or cut a triangle out of it.  The Wensel brothers just cock it a little to the side.

Think I figured it out.  I ordered a couple soft-brimmed boonies.

Good question.  I have not found a hat/cap yet that I can wear while shooting.  I can't stand to have the brim touch the string.  It distracts me.  It's bad enough that my attention span can be measured with an egg timer and have plenty of sand left over.  I've quit wearing a hat when I'm just shooting or during early seasons, and during the late season cold I wear a stocking type hat with no brim.  Any other option would be great.

For later in the year I bought one of the radar caps at wallyworld. Its fleece with a short brim. I cut the bill down on a baseball hat for using in warmer weather.

I wear Boonie hat in the summer I love them.

That's funny! I just had my cap on backwards to shoot and then put on my Boony right before I sat down and read this!!!

I love the idea of a notched bill for shooting, but I don't know if I could bring myself to mutilate my "lucky ball cap" to make it work.

I need all the luck I can get!

I love my Stormykromers for cool/cold weather.It has a fairly soft brim,fold down ear flaps, and is wool.I have one in red and one in camo.

I buy boonie hats and trim down the brim quite a bit. Ugly as sin, but works great!  

I know a guy who has a set of small velcro patches glued on the front of his boonie and top of the front brim to hold the brim up away from the string.

Gee, I can shoot with a ball cap on with no problem. Mostly when hunting I wear a dew rag.

As soon as the string touches the brim, I lose concentration. No hat with any kind of brim works for me.

Look @ anyplace that sells welding supplies.  Welder ball caps have a shorter brim and work great for staying out of a strings way.

Gray Wolf Woolens (See Sponsor Listings) has Predator Camo crusher and boonie style hats.  The Wolfskin fabric is fantastic - crushes up great, and sheds rain too!

I also have a selection of shorter brimmed fedora style hats on my Prairie Traditions website (link below) and plan to expand the selections to include other styles as I go.

"Hats, hats and more hats", a quote from my wife. I too have that problem with releasing the string if it hits the hat brim. I have to wear a hat in the summer sun. My head reflects the sun so much it blinds my shooting friends!! I found a bucket type hat that has UV protection from Duluth Trading Co. I bought 3 because it seems if I like something they quit making it.
For cold weather I prefer a stocking hat.
