This will be great fun. Any of you who have not hunted hogs are in for a treat. Only thing to remember on a hog is do not hit it a little back. Vitals are right behind shoulder, best to try and bust shoulder or get a good quartering away shot to tuck in behind shoulder. They are tough beast and I have seen them survive marginal hits. Full moom night hunting is a hoot. I can hardly wait. YEEEHAW

That is great info, and I have been doing some looking on hogs and you are right about shot placement, as well as a good heavy setup with good BH's to get through the "shield".

Could you share any more helpful info about hog hunting for those of us (me) that have not hunted them before?

Thanks alot
Jake

The hardest thing is picking the one you want to shoot when there is 20 of them rooting around in front of you and then trying to get asecond arrow nocked to shoot another one

Razorsharp heads is the key. Really sharp. And at night when they are 15 yards out and you shoot and they are busting all around you. What a rush!!

They also have very good noses, so wind is awful important. If they get a whif of you they are gone. Eye sight is not that good, but movement can be spotted by not so good eyesight. I like to stalk them, but it depends on where we hunt and if it is allowed. Blind hunting over feeders is also great. I just love to hunt. I had a blast in west Texas last year hunting javies and hogs. I have hunted hogs in south Texas also.

the hardest part is getting past the sows because the boar is always out the back.  :biglaugh:

Steve,

I sent you multiple PM's about coming, including specifying the April dates as being the ones I would prefer, but I never heard back and didn't see my name on the final lists. I'm not sure if that was because the messages weren't getting through or because of some other reason. Either way it is fine, but I did really want to come and am disappointed that I won't get to see you and all the guys. I hope everyone has a good time.

Alright, I'll be coming from Tulsa to the April hunt if anyone wants to jump in with me.  Also it appears that we will need to arrange a pick up run at DFW.  IF you are flying in, post your arrival times and hopefully everyone comes into the same airport.  I believe that Dallas has at least two major airports.

How about the May hunt, where is everyone coming in from?  How many are flying, and how many driving?  I would like to book a plane ticket early so it is cheaper but I need to know what time ppl are getting in, and leaving on Sunday.

Steve71

when is everyone going to try and leave Sunday or Monday. It does not matter to me .

Over&Under

Sunday night or early monday morning for us.

As far as food, whatever is easiest.  Burgers, brawts, bisquits/gravy, potatos....
