i have mentioned in the past that i own an older k-mag. ive also mentioned how i like the bow but not a fan of shooting it much. due to the fact that im very inconsistent with it. messing around in the garage today i found my bow -square , decided to put it on the k-mag and see how far up from the arrow rest the nock set was. it turns out that it was 7/8" up from 0...now my question is , is the nock set placement supposed to be the same as on a long bow about 1/8"above 0? how does this affect accuracy

it will vary from bow to bow and shooter to shooter, but i think that will probably be to high. most everyone can shoot a bow well with the nock set at about 1/2" (nocking under nock point). it will be a good starting point to see if your accuracy improves.
hope this helps,

Isn't the k-Mag a very short bow,48? If so it is designed for close shots in thick brush. It's not really a target bow, though some folks with near perfect form might shoot it well. Most of us would shoot a longer 60"-62" bow better.

An out of tune arrow will hurt accuracy but there is really no set nock placement that will work the same for everyone.

Blood Trail

I shoot my Kodiak Magnum with three under and a nock height of 1/4 to the bottom of the nock. Shoots well for me.
It's not what you look at that's  important-it's what you see.

Where did you get the idea that 1/8 inch above O is standard for a longbow?  It isn't.  Most longbows will do better between 1/2 and 3/4 inch above 0.

Put your K-mag at 5/8ths. and you should be happy. It varies person to person depending on how your fingers apply pressure to the string. All my bows like a high nock point due to the reason listed. Shawn

orion my hickory self bow has it set at 1/8"above 0 and shoots where i look every time . this morning i took every ones advice and started out @1/2" above 0 and shot a couple of arrows.... all i can say is wow ive never been able to shoot 2 arrows cold and hit the mark with the k-mag... what a difference. i now have a new appreciation for the old k-mag. thanx everyone for your help

Mine is located with the top of the little brass under the last line on my b square.
Works for me on almost all my bows.
