Can anyone suggest a good foam that is wood/carbon friendly for making a home made target?

If you have a Tractor Supply nearby, the foam they use to separate the trailers they sell when delivered to them on the truck works great. Most of them give it away for free as much as you're willing to take.

A woven nylon feed bag stuffed with shrink wrap works good for field tips but not for broad heads.

Thanks guys.

Verm: I got a John Deer dealer not far down the road. I'll give them a try.

Don't use foam insulation board. Got the idea to cut a sheet in half and glue it up for a 4'x4'x4" backstop. Stopped arrows just fine. But melted onto the shafts on impact. acetone removed this crud. removed finish from my woodies too.....

Freeman: Thanks for the info as I actually considered that and thought to ask for suggestions first. Glad I did!   :bigsmyl:

I made a bad target out of burlap bag and bubble wrap. Works perfect and field tipped arrows pull out wise ease! I kinda shaped it in a deers body/torso and hang it sideways! Its pretty cool because it thwacks pretty good once an arrow hits it! THWACK!!!!!!!!!! Very cheap to make as well!

I use dog food bags stuffed with plastic or rags. Duct take once around in each direction to hold it shut. It's pretty decent wet, pulls out easy, and stops anything. Plus it's CHEAP!
