Found this on y--tube. I always knew he was knowledgeable, but wasn't aware thet he was also a world longbow champ! I never realized how lucky we are here on this site. Many of the best in the world are right here on Trad Gang!

I have heard and read some of Ron's achievements in archery, he's just such a humble man you would never know it.
Ron's the real deal, it's the braggerts that we have to be suspect of, can they really do what there always telling us they can do?

I couldn't have said it better. I met him at the GLLI shoot and MR. Asbell was camping with him,, He chuckled at me and my quiver of Cedar arrows,, I mean that thing was packed with'em with all sorts of different color variations but none of them very special, just arrows. He mentioned how he used to carry a quiver around like that too. Very nice man indeed. Fred and I talked about the old english bowmen in their armys and some historical facts about them,,Really cool stuff. Met Roger too, heck of a fella,,JB

You never really know a person till you meet them in person, shake their hand, and look em in the eye. Let me tell you, Ron is a super nice guy and mentor in my book for sure. He was nice enough to speak at the very first ever TN Traditional Archery Society banquet last year. But the real kicker was the time he took to inspire and teach the younger generation that was there. I am thrilled that my son, Mason has someone like Ron LaClair to look up to. Ron realizes that lighting the fire in the youth for trad archery IS the future ! It may be Super Bowl weekend, but I bet you my next paycheck that if Mason was given a choice of going to the Super Bowl or hangin at ShrewHaven Lodge, then you best be stoking up the stove on Armstrong Creek !!!

Ron, sure hope you can come back to TN soon, we would love to have you ! We are hoping to be able to come up one day to Compton and maybe even Kalamazoo too.

Here are a few pics from the TTAS 2008 banquet with Ron mentoring that next generation. He even signed one of his personal arrows for Mason. Ron & Redbird are at the top of our list here in TN !

I met Ron when I was Mason's size, about 32 years ago. Took me on my first squirrel hunt, what a day! Been an inspiration to me ever since.

Yup, Rons the real deal!
