Where should I start my search.  I am just looking for good PL with good numbers. I dont know how to get Land owner permission, Is this hard or is it through the G & F???

If you call the Game & Fish office in the area you want to hunt they will send you a landowner list. There are tons of public land in WY to chase goats. Go to the F&G website and you can research draw odds by unit.

There is a lot of BLM in the central and western part of the state. Shouldn't be too much trouble there.

I hunted around Pinedale once. All we had to do was go to the BLM office get a map and sort out the BLM land from the private land. There were Antelope just about everywhere you looked.

Casper is a pretty good base camp to do the same kind of thing.  I ran into Mr. Green Jeans there one time and mentioned that I was paying a trespass fee to mule deer hunt and he laughed in my face.  I'd guess it wouldn't be too hard to get permission to bow hunt goats if you want to hunt private.

Pinedale aint known as an antelope mecca.  SW Wyo has a ton of BLM land. Check with the local BLM offices, they have maps showing BLM and private..

Tons of BLM land between Casper and Rawlins. The Red Desert area is considered the best. No problem at all getting permission on private land. Once they know your not from Wyoming they are generally great about come on in. But there is no need for private land. There are more goats than people in this area and lots of BLM ground. Go couple days ahead of hunt to scout and you'll be fine. If your looking for a ranch, we hunted the Pathfinder Ranch, half an hour south of Casper many times. Independance rock is on the ranch so it's not hard to find and it's a big place 175,000 acres or so. They always gave us access no problems.

We hunted south of Casper a couple years ago on BLM and private ranches.Wyoming has a program similar to WIMA you get a permit from F&G in Casper or on line that gives you access. One of the ranches where we were contained 44 square miles.If you score you send part of your tag to the landowner and the state pays him a fee for the animals taken. Out of five bowhunters four of us took antelope.  Ben

What everybody else said. Lots of public land in central and western Wy., but many ranchers will allow access for either nothing or a small fee. The goats are just as numerous on public ground, however. Look at areas between Casper and Rawlins for good possibilities.

Interesting info above.  My info is very different.

My wife is from Rawlins and still has family there.  Trespass fees are in the $1500 range. Her family has 4-5 people applying for antelope tags every year and only 1 has drawn in the last 3 years.  All the big buck contests have made rifle hunting popular with the locals and there are no archery only tags.

Generally, any unit you are sure to draw is primarily private land.  The units that are difficult to draw are comprised of public land.  The WG&F website has a nifty chart of the units so you can make quick comparisons.

If you don't mind paying, start planning your hunt.  Personally, I don't like to pay.  I have 3 PP's that I plan to cash in for the unit of my choice.
