I just shot an older Thunderstick III of Jim's, and it still looked and shot gorgeous. Everyone I have seen were works of art. Unfortunately I have never seen or shot a MOAB, just the IIIs.
I have shot the Thunderstick IIIs. My sneaky Wife and Daughter called Jim and had him send me a card telling me to call to custom order my Bow, so I went ahead and ordered a 64" Thunderstick III with Actionboo limbs.

Jim told me he will be at Kzoo but not as a vendor. He will be in the crowd and visiting his many friends there who are vendors. You meet the man you've met the bow. Find him, you will be glad you did. I own a 47# MOAB and feel it is almost unfair to game animals and too easy to shoot. I'd tell you how many of Jim's bows I own, but its kinda embarrassing.

Java Man

Jim is one of the good guys for sure.  His bows are very well done.

Ya Ben yours looks real nice It looks like it has a finish on it. I didnt meen to slam anyones favorite bow I did say they shot pretty well
All the ones I have seen were new one had a finish that I really didnt like I mean there is flat and that is fine that is a huntingbow but this bow loked unfinished the second twos finishes were better but one of those two limb tips were ground improperly of course in fairness everything I heard of jim would tell me he wood  fix this problem and yes at least a 1/2 dozen people have seen this and agree with thelimb tip problem
also if you sight along the edge grain of the limb
all of them are extremely wavy

I have two Moabs.One 59lber and one 50lber.
They are as fast as a recurve and are easy to shoot well. Zero shock. Mine are basic hunting bows without all the bling. I feel these bows combine everything good in a bow and have no negatives that I can find.

I will tell you we are not all the same butit seems like there is a lot of us shooting 52# MOABs. I have had many many people tell me that my MOAB shoots faster than any bow comperable. Personally I love it. The guy who was somewhat negative was very correct about priced right and no hand shock. I am taking mine to Africa in June. I am positive you would like it if you shoot it and Jim is very fair.

I was thinking about getting one.Talked to him about it.He said it would take about 4 to 6 months to make one.If work stays steady,i`ll be ordering one.Someone at a 3-D shoot let me shoot theirs. They are real nice to shoot. No hand shock.

Shot my dad's side by side with a Savannah. Granted there was a 5 lb difference with the MOAB having the edge, but the performance wasn't even close. The Savannah shot pretty well, but it paled in comparison to the MOAB. I'm sure he'll be on here at some point with his opinion. I can't imagine a better shooting long bow hybrid.

I'm pretty much a recurve guy, but if I was to own a longbow, it would be another TS Moab.

I'm trying very hard to limit myself to just one MOAB.

We have 4 Thundersticks hanging on pegs in our basement. I have 2 MOAB's my first is a very plain and simple 60" 57# bow for hunting. When I ordered it, I told jim nothing fancy cuz its gonna take its lumps in the field. And it has. Fine shooting, hard hitting bow.

My 2nd is another MOAB, 52# 62" beauty.

My wife shoots a 41# Thunderstick III, and my son a 49# Thunderstick Mag.

I can tell you that all are very smooth shooting bows, with outstanding workmanship. They are easy to shoot, and hard hitting fast bows.

Like any bow made, you'll probably find someone that doesnt like them, but in the case of Thunderstick bows, that is rare indeed.

Jim also is a huge supporter of state and national hunting and archery organizations, and has been the PBS Bowyer of the Year several times.

Autumn, those are some good looking veneers. Tamo ash or quilted maple?

Quilted Maple. That particular bow is Jim's special edition Arrow Inlay bow. He only makes them for fundraiser auctions, ya hafta bid on them, and be prepared to dig deep to get one.

I got mine at the Benefit4Kids auction 2 yrs ago. Built to my specs. Jim has donated these bows to B4K, Michigan Bow Hunters, PBS, Michigan Traditional Bowhunters, Michigan Longbow Association and a few other good causes. His workmanship on these is only surpassed by his generosity in supporting some very good organizations.

I got this particular bow in May, and hunted with it this fall, christening it witha 7pt.
