Well , I`ve been on pigs 3 of the last 4 times I been hunting with no shots.Walked MILES no meat. Yesterday evening I headed to the "Black Lake" one of my favorite Public places. Its 1.7 miles from the road and usually good.

I heard some pigs and snuck in as close as crunchy leaves would let me and waited.Several boars were fussing over a girl friend and it was quite a show. One big boar hooked another and he came by me at 10 yards and stood there mad. I could have killed him but I could smell him from where I was....rank.He went by  unscathed other than some cutter marks on his ham.The other  BIG boar came by and posed at 15 yards. I could see hooks poking out of his mouth. I thought about shooting him but there was a rise between us and I would have had to shoot him mid height. Too risky.I let him walk.
Some sows and pigs were moving into and opening and I got ahead of them and set up. A fine guilt got sideways slightly quartering away. I picked a spot just in front of the last rib intending to angle one forward. At the shot the pig turned broadsided and I got mid rib . Not good on a broadside hog. They all ran in a briar thicket and it was getting late.I mentally marked a big funky looking tree and headed home. Cool weather tonight ,best thing to do.
Got there this morning and quickly got on the trail...

And after about twenty yards in an awful briar patch found her. No doubt waiting was the right thing.

Killed her with Tippets Pronghorn at 48# at 27" 145 grain snuffer with about 650 grains total arrow weight. Did`nt hit bone so the arrow passed completely through and went 10 inches in the mud.
Just from curiosity I propped her up and after the hero pic I shot her in the flat of the shoulder and bent the arrow trying to get it out of the tree on the other side of the pig. The same head I shot her with to start with. I`m sold.RC

Impossible...didn't anyone tell you that unless your shooting a "tanto tipped" 2-blade your arrow will bounce off anything bigger than a frog?

Nobody told me either!

Nice pig, love Snuffer bloodtrails.  The big heads have saved me alot of sleepless nights over the years...Now go shoot that big stinky one with the cutters.

Right on RC, is that #10 for this year?

I wish you would of shot her in the shoulder blade, just to see how will it would of penetrated it, maybe on #11

Nice BBQ right there

King thats the first since New years. 9 last year.I`ve been struggling to get shots on pigs this year.Funny thing, I boned this one out had her in the pack walking out and brambled up on two sows and some shoats. Got to withing 8 steps of the sow with small pigs before I got winded trying to get on the other one.Not bad for public land. My buddy John Bookhart has killed 13 Since Christmas . Doubled 6 of the last ten times out with his longbow. He killed a pig yesterday and missed another. Lucky Old Man..lol.RC

Congrats RC.  Maybe next time could you take pics of the damage done by the Snuffer?  Thanks, Mark

   That is so cool! Is it wrong to wish we had hogs around here?!? I know they're bad on the environment and they make it hard on our native animals and all, but dang I want one!
