I got to playing around at work the last couple of days and decided to see how my programming abilities are.  I run what is called a wire EDM machine at my real job.  I wanted to build myself enough glue on broadheads to last a lifetime.  I plan to build 3 dozen of these made out of 420 stainless steel hardened to 56 rockwell.  The are 2.8 inches long and 1.2 inches wide with a single RW bevel.  I have now plans to sell these to the public, but figured my fellow tradgangers might like to see them.  Thanks for looking.  JD

I meant to write "no plans to sell them" not "now plans to sell them" .  Literacy ain't one of my strong points as my buddy Meach would say.

Arco

That is a spiffy cool looking broadhead, and I like the idea of a one piece, machined head way more than 3 punched pieces brazed together...

When and if you decide to sell them, I'll be your first customer!
I've done so much with so little for so long that now I can do anything with nothing in no time at all...

That's a wicked looking broadhead! What do they weigh?

How about that ferrule? Can I see a pic of the base? Is it machined to accept a tapered shaft or does it have to be shaped like that?

330 grains without the ferrule cut out...don't have to worry about the tip deforming on these!  He wants them to be around 250 grains ready to glue on the shaft.

Jim...they look even better lined up like that!  Wicked!!!

Sorry I had some inside info.   :readit:

They would even make beautiful Christmas tree decorations!

They look awesome!

Fantastic job!

Yep, those look deadly. Let us know how they sharpen. Looks like the ferrule might be a little high in the back to lay a file across them.

The ferrules will be machined to caaept my cedars next monday.  The back part of the outside of the ferryle will be ground down for sharpening purposes.  And yes, they will get a tanto point when finished.  I will keep everyone posted with pictures of the progress, including the testing!!!!  I am getting enough Stainless Steel ordered to make 3 dozen.  1 dozen should last me the rest of my life.  It took me roughly 4 hours to write the program and trig out all the angles needed.   The main blade is .080" thick.  It will take roughly 2 months to get 36 of them cut out.  If all goes well I plan to have a giveaway of a couple of 3 packs to some fellow tradgangers.

I take it you are a lefty. Other than the right bevel thing, they look great!
