I decided to use my longbow next weekend in the CT Jan season. I haven't shot it in 3 months so I busted it out yesterday. I shot pretty well. I shot for a while today and am getting my confidence back. Hopefully I'll be ready by this weekend.
Here are some pics from today.

Here were my average groups

10yds

15yds

20yds....opens up a bit

Here is a reference for the size of this kill zone

I'm still not happy with my shooting at 20yds or beyond. I'm still always in the vitals but if I don't get tighter I'll keep my shots at 15yds or under this weekend. The high will be 17, but my GF still offered to come film me, so i am pumped!

Great pics, I've got a Boston Terrier that loves to watch me shoot. Only problem she also likes to attack my arrows upon impact with the target.LOL

Thanks guys. Yeah my dog loves to come watch me shoot, he thinks I'm gonna kill something fun for him to go get! He LOVES coming on bloodtrails with me for deer.

Yes, my GF offered! It'll just be a 3-4 hr sit in the afternoon, but it should be good. All I said was that I was looking for someone to come film and she offered! Heck, she dosen't even hunt....or eat meat. She does go beyond supporting me though.

Nice Skip. I envy you bow only area guys with your long seasons!
My brit acts much like your dog. I trained her to find my "wild shots"...lol.
Once you are all set with the lb, you should check out Shawn's bunny hunt in Feb. Great time.
Good luck to you two filming and hunting!

It's a 49# Super Shrew. I own a bunch of longbows and recurves and this thing out shoots them all. It has plenty of power and I've even passed though a 600# Ferral hog with it, but I wanted a bit more, so I just ordered the same bow in 60#'s

Hahah, yeah. She just bought a house and is letting me set up a full archery wok shop in the basement and gave me my own room for all my mounts........besides the 2 she'll let me keep in the living room!

Hey Skip, check out the Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt thread. JLMBH....posted by Shawn Leonard.
It is held in Selkirk, just below Albany.

you mean to tell me that you let that beautiful shrew sit unattended for three months.  For shame. JK

Nice looking bow....

Start closer (6  yards) - one giant step - repeat. And move back in stages it will help your concentration.....not bad for the first few though so you can get them tighter.

Yeah, i know. I really just need to shoot more. last summer I was shooting every day and my 40yd group looked like my 20yd group in those pics. I shot today and tightened them up a bit more. Hopefully I'll be where I want by sat.......at least at at 15yds
