Well, Jerry and I couldn't join the boys for the NJ winter bow get together today. A few months back we had ordered a pair of new longbows that were now ready to be picked up. Time for a little road trip. I woke up to a lite snow and a forecast of 8"-10" of snow. Jerry arrived around 7am and we were off. The roads were a bit slippery but we didn't care we needed to get our bows. Crossing into PA via the Delaware Water Gap the young man in the car next to us found out just how slippery it really was when he tried passing us on the right. First he slammed the wall on the right then spun out in front of us into the median completing his 180 facing us as we both slid to a stop. After a quick check to make sure no one was hurt too bad in the other vehicle we made a 911 call and got back to our journey. Thank the Lord no one was seriously hurt and Jerry and I escaped unscathed. About 3 hours later we arrived at the home of Jim Martin and Mahantango Custom Bows!

This is what I came home with.

I sure love the look of yew.

Jim sandwiched two lams of bamboo between the yew.

70" ntn 57#'s @ 29" I could not be more pleased with this latest acquisition. Draws smooth as silk and spits arrows like no ones business. Thank you Jim for once again making me a longbow that I'm super proud to own. Hopefully Jerry will post some pics of his. And maybe tomorrow I can get my wife to take a few pics of me shooting it and a few of the strung profile.

Sorry I didn't get to post last night. I was pretty beat after driving in that mess yesterday. Nothing was going to stop Vaughn and I from going to get these bows yesterday. We had been waiting for months for the chance to pick them up and we just knew they would be great. Well, great is an understatement. I have never just picked up a bow and shot like I did with this one. Smooth drawing, great looking, and zipped those arrows to the target like a flash. The Bowyer was a little worried about my specs on the grip, but it turned out perfect. My hand grabbed that bow just right and I was slamming my shots right into the kill zone from the first shot. OK enough of the talk and here are some pics.

Hi Vaughn, glad you guys didn't get hurt. You must have wanted those bows bad! Now I can see why. Beautiful! Nice choices of woods. I ran into Jim's brother at Sawmill last summer and he said Jim was working on a R/D hybrid. Did you get a chance to check one out?

You guys really wanted those bows bad!!!! I live about a 1/2 hr north of where you picked your bows up and it was nasty out. I am glad you got back safe and sound. Good shooting with those Mahantangos!!!

Hey congratulations guys and best of luck with those beauties. I lived in warren Co. for twenty years and made that trip through the Gap hundreds of times in some really bad weather... pretty scary! Nice to be down here in TN now although I really miss the fall season up there!

Deadsmple

Hey Flatshooter, I know what you mean I wouldn't trade my falls in warren and sussex counties for anything but winters cruising rt80 I'll give away for free.
