Does anyone hear a whistling type noise when they shoot vented broadheads(3 blade or 2 blade)? Do you believe that a deer's tendency to jump the string is heightened by this or not?If so,does this shorten your shooting distance?
I have always shot unvented but would like to try some 3 blade that are vented.

I use Magnus 4 blade vented broadheads, and even though I hear a whistle at the range, neither of these 3 guys heard it coming. All 3 shots were at 10 yds

A friend and myself did some tests a few years back.
We both heard a whistle when the arrow was shot and we were standing behind it.
Then we each took a turn standing down from the shooter, and listened as the arrow came past us.
Neither one of us heard the whistling as the arrow was coming to us.
Couple years back I had a arrow that whistled. I think it was the fletching. I name the arrow "the whistler" I ended up killing a real nice 10 with a 20" inside spread at 12 yards with that arrow!!

These comments are what I was hoping to hear but what about longer ranges like 15 to 20 yds?

Most game will hear the bow going off and react to it, if they react at all, before they hear the arrow whistle.  By then, it's usually too late.

My Snuffers can make a little whistle but it has never had an adverse effect for me.

with those snuffers, it's nicknamed the 'hiss of death'

I know the Pearson Deadheads make a lot of noise after they go past you but you can't hear them comming.

if you had a fast bow like mine, the arrow gets there before the sound does. LOL  

I'm not sure whether you're talking about "whistle" or "hiss".  To me, you whistle when you call your dog.  A broadhead should not whistle.  I have had some 4 blades of various makes whistle, and putting a little chap stick or string wax in the bleeder slot in front of the bleeder made it disappear.

Hiss on the other hand is normal for some heads (like Snuffers) and should not be any cause for concern IMO.  Perfect alignment and a little practice shooting, which can help to clean up any rough edges will help to minimize hiss.

The Magnus 4 blades i have seem very loud to me.  I bought them and have never taken them in the woods because of the whistle.  I will try the chapstick thing and see if that helps any.

Just tune them and shoot'em, hasnt made any difference for me from 15-25 yds.
