If you're never taking anything except very close shots, I don't see much of a problem.  If on the other hand, you do some spot and stalk and might be shooting out a bit, the improved trajectory might outweigh the penetration advantage.  Can't believe you don't already shoot clean thru deer.

With my bows listed in my signature, I shoot 553 grain aluminum arrows.
Blacktail TD Recurve: 66", 42# @ 30". Arrow: 32", 2212. PW: 75 Grains. AW: 421 Grains. GPP: 10.02
Blacktail TD Recurve: 66", 37# @ 30". Arrow: 32", 2212. PW: 75 Grains. AW: 421 Grains. GPP: 11.37

530 to 570 from 50#-55# recurves, depending on the arrow I'm using.  Probably 90% of the time it's a 29.5" CXTH 4560 that comes in at 530 grains...

Ditto to Buckeye's set-up.  Mostly, I shoot a 47# bow with a 490 grain arrow.  However, since I tune a set of arrows to each bow, some of my arrows are up to 570 grains for bows ranging in poundage from 42# to 50#.  The range is usually 10.5 GPP to 12 GPP with occasional slight variance at each end.
