MJB,
Is Dave making a bow for you, did he send you pics of the wood he's making your bow with. The pics from Pg 1   :campfire:

I believe Dave offers 3 riser lengths, depending on overall bow length.

I looked on their web sight and couldn't find anything on the different riser lengths, but I also think Dave has three sizes. I would say go on their web site E-Mail Beth or just call Beth its a joy to talk to her.

Thanks guys. Has anyone shot the 15" riser? How is the performance and is the sight window big enough?

I have a 15 riser with long limbs which make it a 60 inch bow and the site window is not an issue. That longer limb on the short riser also makes it real smooth on the draw. good luck

I've had my share of Silvertips over the years with both 15 and 17" risers. I don't have big hands but for me the 17" risers with short limbs felt and shot much better.

1/4 away

I have a 58" tip and also had a 60" at one time and I couldn't tell the difference between the two as far as shooting characteristics.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

KentuckyTJ

I like the looks of the shorter riser, but worry about the limbs being to bouncy if they are too long. I realize the longer they are the smoother the draw so I guess its a fine line. I like a 58" bow so the short riser short limb combo may be ok in both aspects.

Sorry to highjack your thread Bruce, I'll stop.

Well, I want to thank you guys for posting all your Silvertips. It lead me on a new (to me) bow search and you all know how exciting that can be. I p.m.'d a bunch of you Silvertip guys and got mostly positive responses to your experiences with your's. I ended up buying this one from a fellow trad gang member. I put it through the paces today and absolutely love it. Smoothest draw of any bow I've ever owned, very quiet (even with my light 430 grain gold tip 3555 arrows), no hand shock and fairly quick.

Thanks guys for all your help.

Specs 58" and 50 lbs. @ 28"

KentuckyTJ, glad to see you found a bow, and a very nice one at that. I have never seen a walnut Schafer I did not like.
Enjoy the new bow.

TJ,

Throw a cheap Bear Weatherrest on that baby an it will SHINE

KentuckyTJ

Yeah Steve it needs some rest work definitely. I'm a shoot off the shelf kind of guy. I already ripped off the noisy drawing side plate and will work on the rest plate soon.
