I have a few scratches on my bow and was wondering what I could put on it to help seal the finish.  It's my new pronghorn and Herb's website stated you can apply some kind of past wax guards to help protect the finish but I'm not quite sure what type/brand he is referring to.  Do any of use something similar  to help protect your bow finish?

I've always used Johnson's paste wax on my bows.  I got mine at Lowes.  Just don't use it close to hunting season as it does have some smell to it.  If the scratches on your bow go down to the wood you may want to seal them up first.  I use superglue and buff it lightly with steel wool...Mike

Mike,  so you use the superglue to fill up the scratches if they go down to the wood?  AFter that you apply the past wax?  I have a couple scratches and dings and one of them is really small but it's down to the wood and that's the one I'm worried about as far as moisture getting inside to the wood.

You can just use the superglue if your goal is to seal the bow up.  I use it if I have a scratch, ding, etc that is down to the wood.  If you do it carefully (do not blow on the glue, it hazes) and wait for it to get good and dry you can buff it lightly with steel wool and never even know its there.

I use the paste wax once a year (after Spring turkey season) on all my bows.  It just freshens them up and puts a light protective layer on it.  Won't protect against banging the bow on a rock, dropping it, etc... but most of the small scuffs from walking through brush and such will be in the wax layer.  Makes the water bead off the bow as well...Mike

I use Johnson's Paste Wax as well.

I have a can of mothers carnuba wax. Pure wax, no cleaners. Works good.
How's that Pronghorn working for you?

I use a product called "TREWAX".  It's a clear paste wax with natural carnauba wax.  Works great on all my bows.

I recommend to all my customers that they wax their bows a couple of times a year.  Just like their wives cars.  I seem to prefere Min Wax clear.  Has a little less odor that Johnsons.  I do like the idea of the pure carnuba tho.

I use Minwax Paste Finishing wax which provides excellent protection.  Johnson's Paste wax is just as good.
