Way to go Steve-no surprise to me-nice buck. Second Virginia fellow to make it to the top with a nice buck!!
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Is that the deer that tried to hide from you after being shot? Only deer I know of that covered up with leaves to keep from being field dressed. Don't much blame him. If it is show the pic. please.

Don Batten

good job steve, did you have to shoot him through a maze of pvc and wire? LOL. i know you are good when it comes to that. Don

Good one Don! Steve was just itching to win that Toughman at ATAR last year. Better watch out for him this time!! LOL

Peachey

Thanks fellas, I shot him the second Saturday of muzzleloader season on the ridge in front of my house. Right after daylight I heard a deer coming in the leaves, I saw him walking straight at me and at 30 yards he stopped just looking all around. He stood there for close to minute then started right at me again. At first I thought he would walk right under me which I did not want. At about 10 yards he cut slightly to his right and stopped again about 7 yards away. Ther was a tree blocking the front half of his lungs so I had to shoot alittle back. With the angle I got the back of one lung, liver and exited the gut. I waited 2 and 1/2 hours and found him about 100 yards away. He had laid down in a deep ditch on the side of the ridge. When he died he had slid down almost completley burying himself in the leaves. Crowcreek Blackfeather bow, CX arrow and 125 gr. Thunderhead. Here is what he looked like when I found him.

So you're the Guy Elmer was telling me about {All Good By The Way} Nice Buck,, wish I could shoot one of those BlackFeathers !!

Now feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but there was a photo up there last week of a gentelman, Kevin Given, with a buck...not a big rack though, and no one issued congratulations on that one.  Now...did I just miss it, or do we only congratulate on big antlers?   Curious.

huckbuck

Way to go Steve
Good pictures too.

Peachy looked like the leaves up there are like quicksand.Lucky you could even see him.  :D
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

I guess we are free to congratulate on whatever for whoever we want. Steve (Peachey) is a good guy who is known by a lot of guys on this site. He has whipped most of our tails on a 3-D course at one time ot another. One of the moderators stuck his photo up top and a bunch of his friends chimed in to say congrats. I am sure most of 'em would have done the same if it had been a doe.
