Gus,

Is there and easy way to put the shur grip rubber grip on my bow? i have a widow and the riser is a little chunky. who's got a trick?

Thanks

Morning Star

Role it up into a doughnut, put a piece of string through it to help ya pull it over the tight spots.  Takes a bit of work, but worth it.

If you have a takedown, it helps to remove the limbs.

Thanks for the quick response! i will try your idea!

Never tried the string trick, but you once you get it rolling, you can add a little heat with a hair dryer and/or dab a little vaseline, etc on the high spots of the riser.

First one I ever put on a bow was for a Bear t/d.  I may stll have some scars from the blisters!!!    :biglaugh:

A subtle play on words is better than a poke in the eye.

I was ready to buy one for my bow but shipping was more than the grip. A guy I shoot with gave me a great tip, buy a cheap bike inner tube and cut a 4" section out of it its the same thing and you can share with your friends!

I put one on a Widow, and had to put my foot in the string. Work it up one side and then the other. Yep, worth it.
If it's in your way, move it.

little bit of liquid soap, will evaporate after a short while....

Froggy got it soapy water and roll like a doughnut until you have it about where you need to be than un-roll it.  I put one on a Widow no problem.

I put always a shur grip on mines bows (bw ptf and psa, Blackwidow, border, Blacktail etc..) , actually on my Blacktail.
Le more simple, little by little it's to roll on itself as far as the riser and as say previously, do over either soapy water or wd 40, it's very effective.

Morning Star's method is the best.  I've done it to three Widow recurves...usinga piece of cord or shoelace is less messy than soapy water and FAR easier to pull the donut up over the high spots.
