I'm trying to find the correct aluminum shaft to fit well over the Carbonwood 3000.  I have nearly 5000 aluminum shafts stored away but am having a heck of a time.

The 2216 has too much slop and the 2113 is just too small.

What do ya think?

If it makes you feel better, I've tried as well.  No luck with anything else.  I spent a couple hours meandering through Lowes and local hardware stores trying to find some external footing material.  Only thing I found was some hose/tubing that had 1/8" thick walls. (No good)

Sooo....here's a friendly bump for both of us.

Well after going through a couple of boxes of shafts I found two 2219s.  they fit very nice.  Should have enough to do a couple of dozen of the four dozen arrow I have.

Now all we have to do it find 2219 shafts.  LOL

Wingnut,

Are you footing the shafts to add weight or strength?

Bill Carlsen

Wingnut: I have a bunch of old 2219 laying around downstairs....all in various stages of abuse and in need of overhauling. If you need some I have 'em.

Doeboy,

The carbons tend to want to split and shear around the insert.  Others have found that putting an 1 1/4" aluminum on the outside helps a bunch.  Nothing will help if it's going to break but it seems to help.

Also adds a little weight,

Bill,

Your the man.  I love to get 3 or so from you if I could.  I'm sure I have something we can trade.  What shafts do you shoot?

Some kind soul compiled a list of aluminum shaft inside diameters. I was able to find the shaft that fit my arrows and actually just got done epoxying them on. Hope this helps...

I've done so much with so little for so long that now I can do anything with nothing in no time at all...

Mike,

I have wrapped unwaxed dental floss around some of my carbons, to get a snug fit with an aluminum shaft footing.

So far, these arrows have stood up well.

The 2219 is a perfect fit.  I fixed up one yesterday that will be hog hunting tomorrow night.

Question? will the footing make the spine stiffer? It seems to me it would make a big difference, but i have no experience at this ...just wondering

Nope not stiffer because it's only 1 1/4 -1 1/2"

It will add weight to the front and make the spine a little weaker.

what if you make them  like 4-5"? I seems that most my arrows brake in in the first 3-5"s
