Whatever the situation calls for. I've shot animals with my bow straight up and canted.
"Neal...is this heaven?" "No Piute but we are dam close". Top of the Mtn in Medicine Bow Nat Forest.

With traditional equipment, always canted. When I do break out my compound with sights then I shoot straight. Completely different anchor so I don't have a problem making the switch.

canted- with my longbow off the shelf. But when I shot off a raised rest on my recurve -  I shot with it vertical.
THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.

both-Ive never really payed much attentioned to it but I know at longer distances the bow is nearly vertical, and out of a tree,-when the animal is close, my bow is horizontal.

Canted for hunting, but I do practice laying it right down and vert to invert.

MikeW

Canted at about 2:00 O'clock for most hunting. Vertical for long 3D shots.
Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils.

Always verticle. But I find my self fighting canting the bow, especially with my longbow.

A vertical fire arm doesnt hit your face nor obstruct your view if you try to look down the barrel.
Wherever you went - here you are.

Chortdraw

Canted. Be careful as you get older and find yourself canting your head over you may doze off for a second or so but helps with the release.
I like to have the limb out of the way.

JEFF B

canted or what ever the shot calls for

wh are you so against shooting a  bow stright up and down if people feel comfortable and shoot good like that whatever i shoot mine straight up and down you dont have to cant your bow and the target for me is never blocked i can still see it

My dad always taught me that there was no such word as cant.    :D

I can and do shoot either way depending on the situation.Normally the longer the shot the more vertical I want my bow.
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....
