Probably a dumb ? but I've been shootin my dads 1987 or 88 one pc. recurve, {the longest I've ever kept a bow} & was wondering if the "New" Widows shot about the same or better, overall feel about the same, particularly their new One Pc. w/the "Horns" PA is it ?? Thanks

Otto

Just my opinion here.....

1987 is roughly when BW made the change from non fast flight compatible limbs to making limbs that would handle FF strings.  (Check the BW web site for exact S/N effectivity of the change) If the model you have is old enough to use a dacron string, then yeah...you'll see a significant difference in the performance of your Pop's older bow vs. a new one.  If your older bow uses a FF string, then I don't believe you'd see much perfromance difference between your bow and a newer bow.

I own an older dacron only bow and a couple of FF bows.  They all draw within a pound of one another but the older non FF bow is noticably slower.  How much????  Don't know.  But it is noticable to the eyeball.

Yea, there is a fair amount of diff. compared to the older bows. As otto has mentioned the change in ff capabilities will add a better feel, but when I bought a new widow in 2000, i was impressed with the additional deadness in the hand after the shot, and especially the smoother draw. maybe its all in my head because i was wanting to buy a new bow, but when i went to kzoo and shot one, i walked back to the widow table and ordered one. sweet shooter.

I think the older models from 88-89 to 99 are the sweetest shooters.
A trophy is in the eye of the beholder.

Thanks fellas, Im sure it's from "88" I know it's FF compatable, still a great shooter ... Thanks Again ...

I'm w/ Larry,
I had a 95 MA that I loved.Got a Ironwood bow and never cared for the draw cycle or the feel when shot.
