Hey guys I am wanting to switching to gold tips from my aluminums.  I bought 1 35/55 and 1 55/70 to bare shaft test.  After some testing the 35/55 with the standard insert and a 150 grain tip they are still a little nock right.  I was wanting to add 100 grains to the front to allow me to continue testing.  Can you screw 2 of the 50 grain weights together to get that or not?  Is there a better way?  I am shooting a 40-42lb montana longbow at my draw length.  Arrow is full length.  Do you think that will get me close enough to keep a 100-150 grain tip on the front?  Any imput would be very much appreciated.

3Rivers has 100 grain brass inserts that fit the Gold Tips.

Don't think they're in the catalog, but Black Widow has 100 grain inserts that should fit your Gold Tips also.  I bought some there a couple weeks ago for my CX Heritage shafts.  Nevada's not too far from Nixa is it?

you can expect carbons to tune at the highest listed weight almost every time. so the 35/55 will be a spine of at lease 55. in your case, you would definately need that extra up front. i think there is even a smaller size of gold tip arrows you may want to look at before going to such a heavy tip. I know penetration on game may improve a touch, but you will have very dramatic arrow drop even at 20 yds. JMO good luck. PS: woodies will be easier!

If you already have 2 50 gr weights, then yes, it would be no problem to screw them both in.

Really nose diving at 20 yards.  I am shooting an Easton 1916 Lite aluminum arrow now at a length of 29" with a 100 grain tip.  I am happy with the tragectory and their flight.  I thought the Gold tip 35/55 would be over all lighter and I would just move some of that weight too the front for hopefully better penetration.  Maybe I am way off on that.  I don't want that Gold Tip to nose dive because I shoot 3 fingers under and reference the tip when shooting.

If you use the Gold Tip weight system you can screw one weight into the rear if another, take them out very the weights etc. It is far more flexible in adjusting weight than the brass inserts.

Always rattled on me so I went to Brass inserts. Very nice after that.

I weighed my aluminum at 435 grains fletched with 3-5" feathers 100 grain tip.  The carbon weighed 390 grains not fletched with 150 grain feild tip.  Add a 100 grain insert and I get 490 plus 3 feathers.  I hope to be able to shoot 100 or 125 grain broadhead for 440 or 465 grains plus 3 feathers. So Will the extra weight being up front make it loose tragectory? Assuming that at max I will be maybe 65 grains heavier will that cause a considerable loss of tragectory?

get used to the SLIGHT difference in tradectory and enjoy the better penetration

Try useing (3) 4" feathers you will see a difference in tradectory. I shoot 35/55 with 245gr up front 29" arrow @52#.   :cool:
