Sirs and Ladies !
I`m planning to buy a Fred Bear Patriot longbow in 50# and wondering if anybody have some thoughts about this bow, speed, etc.
My drawlength is ca 29,5"
I`m going for both 3D and bowhunting.
Thanks for all feedback.

It's not a bad bow for the money. Seems to be made well. Speed is average for this type of bow. It should do well for you.  :)

Thanks Boomerang!
I also think it`s a good starter bow.
Hopefully it gives me the speed and the accuracy i`m looking for.

I had one for a couple of years.  I bought it as a back up bow and never ended up using it.  The bow itself is a great shooter.  Smooth draw, decent speed, and very stable.  The thing I liked best about it was the grip.  If you buy a new one, throw the string away and get a good string made for it.  That will make a world of difference.  They are a sweet bow and you can occasionally find a used one at a good price.

I got one.  Traded a Bear Montana for it.  I couldn't get used to the handle on the Montana, grip would change each time I grabbed it.  Was about ready to give up on lonbows.
Ended up trading for the Patriot and have been very happy with it.  The grip works for me, and she's fun to shoot.  Always more fun when they hit where you're lookin'.   I'm very happy with it and would think you will be too.
Good luck....    :archer:

Margly, I actually bought the bow Tony (ISP 5353) had.  They are a great longbow, definetely faster than the Montana.  The grips are nicer, I just couldn't get used to it over my other longbow that has a rounder handle.  They are a good bow, I don't think you are going wrong with it at all.

I've had one for a few years also.  Very quick and definitely one of Bear's better offerings.  The shelf is pretty shallow so you'll likely end up with a little less spine than you'd think for a bow that shoots so hard.

Like a lot of hybrids I find mine shoots well at a fairly low brace as well.
