Any tips on how to stop birds pecking holes in 3D targets. They seem to love my Cabelas deer. I filled the holes with spray foam and repainted but they just did it again in different spots!

I'm gonna guess the birds are looking for insects. You can put a tarp over your target but then you will have some other critter (like mice) wanting to live under there.

Pick a spot and shoot straight! Problems solved.

I had downy woodpeckers destroy my 3 D deer. Five different places. They started about this time last year, and ended up with nests in two of the five holes. Then a bear(or something) came along in the night and removed them from my target. Only thing is, the target was in about ten different pieces, and useless.
I would bring it in until you want to use it, or ya might need a new one by the end of winter.

Cat pee.    :scared:   Actually, I have no idea, but it sounds reasonable other than you wife not letting you store your arrows in the house.    :knothead:

We have the same thing happen with the targets at our club during the winter months. The birds peck out a hole in the neck area under the nose. Never had them peck out a hole anywhere else. Sometimes on a cold winter morning when you shoot at the target you can see the bird fly out of the hole. I always thought it was kind of neat and they never really did any damage to the rest of the target.

I have a 3D deer that chipmunks move into each winter. I guess the foam makes for a cozy abode.    Pat

I wouldn't mind having the birds peck holes. Got bears that rip them to pieces on the course I shoot at in the U.P. They don't really care about all the human smell either, they just knock the heck out of them and drag parts off into the woods.

I have wood peckers living in my Elk. Most of my other deer have plenty of new spots to pick also!

Buy an Owl or Hawk Decoy and put it out near the targets. Should solve the problem.
