Hey guys. I'm new on here, so I appreciate your patience. I just wanted to share with you all about a bow I just bought and get your opinions on it as I have never owned one of these before. I've been shooting a Bear Montana longbow for a few couple months with very good results but wanted something a little shorter for pop-up blind and treestand hunting. I may have found just the thing. It's a used, older model (mid 1990s), original Ultra-light Ron LaClair Shrew Recurve that's 54" and draws 55#@28", which is the same draw weight as my Montana. The Shrew also has snake skins on the back. I have to wait a few days for it to get here from Mich. The guy I bought it from says it's in very good to excellent condition, as it shows in the pictures I saw of it. If I like it, I will probably sell my Montana   :(   . If not, I will try to sell the Shrew, but I am hoping I will like the Shrew. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

I hope you guys are right. I really am satisfied with my Montana, except I like to use my ground blind and it's too, er, a, long for it! Anyway, money's kinda tight right now(laid off) or I'd keep both. I hope I can use my current arrows with the Shrew. I will post some pics. soon, as I have some already. I'll have to first put some pics. on a image hoster.

Jake and Andy are very knowledgeable about bows, and they are both correct in their praise of the Shrew. I have five of them, and they are spectacular. Jake and I also love our Brackenburys, and there are many other great bows out there, but the Shrews are definitely at the top of the heap. You absolutely will be selling the Bear, as Jake has said.

I guessing you will love the Shrew, but hang on to the Bear Montana, It will be a great back up bow that you are already friendly with plus they are not worth that much. Hang on to it.

Would like to keep both but can't afford to right now. Probably will have to part with the one that doesn't shoot where I aim.

You will absolutely HATE the Shrew! My advice is not even to try shooting it, but be wise and sell it at cost or a modest loss (depending on what you paid) to me Immediately! I will even pay postage. Remember -- I asked first and I am serious. There's a sucker born every day and you don't want to be one of them ... so to be real safe, have the seller ship it directly to me. PM for shipping address.   :bigsmyl:  Honest dave

Okay, HONEST Dave, I'll be shipping it right out to ya as soon as it arrives! Thanks so much for saving me from being a sucker!

Best Of Luck with your new Shrew! I'm gonna guess you can use your same arrows but just might have to go up on point weight a bit.

It would be great if I could use my 2016s just by maybe going to a heavier point. What about my Great Northern strap on bow quiver? Do you think it will go on the Shrew alright?

Nice looking bow! Shrews are definitely at the top of my list of must have bows.

Just for clarification, that is one of the earlier generation Shrews. Very nice bows and very shootable. The newer models are even better.  Enjoy your new bow.
