Hey Santiam....good to here from ya.  Congratulations to your friend...that is awesome.  Some guys just make it look easy.  I've got a friend that I've been teaching how to shoot a recurve also.  I let him borrow one of my old Big Horns (my harem of Quests are off limits  :D ) and took him bowhunting with me for his first time.  On his first try he got a javelina and then this past weekend he killed his first deer.  He's 2 for 2 and only been at it for about a month.

Do you still have all them goats???

Merry Christmas!!

Hey Brett,

Ya,still have a few goats..LOL

My buddy Vince is a excellant hunter, bow or rifle...He just has not tried trad yet and was displaying a interest in it...I told him that I would bring a couple bows in to work, and he could stop by,pick them up and shoot and get a feel for it...

Much to my surprise when he stopped by he had a pile of trad bows in the back...LOL... His plan was to shoot as many as he could and see what he liked...There were several custom bows in the back seat, including a Blacktail...Other friends had loaned him bows to shoot..I had the Grizz and a Tigercat and felt kinda sheepish putting them in with the high dollar bows..

After a couple months he stopped by to give my bows back...Of all the bows he had shot, even the high dollar customs,he liked that Grizz most of all...I was shocked...It was a nice little bow and the bow I took as back up when I traveled far from home, but was far from being a Blacktail..

He thanked me for the use of the bows and was going to watch the auction sites for something  similiar ...

The more I thought about it,the more I realized the the bow was meant for him...He had picked it over all the other bows, and another bow may not have that "feel"..

Besides,I have so many bows in the back room that one more or less was not going to make much difference..I think I paid 10 dollars for that bow at a garage sale...Called him and told him to come back, pick the bow up and Merry Christmas...

BUT, like I said,he had to hunt with it the next season...LOL

From the way things turned out,his first hunt with the bow and all, kinda makes a guy believe in karma, mojo or whatever you want to call it...That bow WAS meant for him...

That's a really cool story!

No more goats!  We're totally focused on cattle now.

Merry Christmas!!!
