I plan on buying some flu flu feathers from 3 Rivers Archery but I dont know to much about them. Do you need a diffirent fletching jig to fletch the flu flu style feathers?

Heres the link to the ones im looking at. Are they pretty good feathers or could I find something a little better?

Could probably save some money by buying full length feathers.  Can usually cut at least two four-inch feathers out of each full length feather.  Nothing says a flu-flu has to be four inches.  Could be 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 or 5 or whatever.  Can use a standard jig to glue them on.  I usually make some three-feather flu-flus and some 6-feather flu-flus.  The sixes will slow the arrow faster than the threes.  To make the sixes, I three-fletch first.  Then just rotate the jig to add another feather in the spaces between the first three feathers you put on.  With full length feathers, you can also spiral wrap the entire feather on the shaft.  I usually use two full length feathers.  That's another form of flu-flu.  It slows the arrow even faster than 6-fletch.  Good luck.

Thanks guys I think ill give the 4 inchers for right now since im pressed for time. Have any of you guys tried any Chartreuse green feathers? They have them and im thinking they would even be brighter then yellow. For some reason my eyes cant pick up white as easy as they use to.

Orion has it right. I do the same thing.  What gets me is how stable they are! Like a 747 on final!  But they are noisy. I stick a rubber tip on them and lookout vermin!!!!!

I really like the spiral fletch.  No jig needed and you just need a couple clothes pins to put them on.  I don't think they are a noisy, but they sure put the breaks on.

You might have to use your left wing clamp.  Most of the commercial uncuts I've seen are left wing.

I would do 4-4" or 5" flu flu's,but my buddy liked to do the spiral fletch flu flu.He would get one flu flu arrow out of one full length feather.He just used a couple of close pins and some super glue.

I use one full lenght feather. tie the back off on the nock end of the shaft with b 50 or serving. rull a bead of fletch tight down the quill. hold the front of the feather and roll the shaft. spiraling the feather around the shaft toward the point. when you get to the end tie it off the same way. I saw some done with heat shrink instead of ties. I'm gonna try that next time i do some. DB

I like 4" 6 fletch (shooting 65lbs).  Stay away from the left helical.  I have had larger tips come unscrewed in flight because of the rotation of the arrow.  Lefty loosy, go with right wing if you can, which means use a straight or right wing clamp.  
I love the look of barred feathers but they are a pain in hunting situations.  I have spent way more time looking for barred and I have chartruse barred ones.  Shooting targets in an open field will be less of a concern, but even then, go solid color and bright.  Out of the pink, light blue, orange, and chartruse/lime solid colors, go with chartruse.  Hands down, they are always the easist to find.  
I was concerned about the bright color when we duck hunt, but that didn't seem to deter them from landing where they should.
