ive heard this go both ways was wondering what everyone thought, whats easier to shoot recurve or long bow.  Hopin its recurve thats what i got to learn on  

That sort of varies with the individual archer and the individual bow. I find longbows a bit more forgiving, but that is just my preference. Shoot your recurve.

The weight of the bow is much more critical for a new shooter than the type of the bow. Just make sure you don't choose one that is too heavy. Generally, 40-45 pounds is a good starting weight. I wouldn't go over 50 for sure.

Once you have your form down, you can experiment with longbows if you like. I learned on a recurve and it didn't seem to warp my mind too much (depending on whom you ask   ).

Another factor may be the grip design. Some like a high wrist (hand cocked down with the bow in the web between thumb and forefinger). Some like a low wrist (hand about straight up and down, like a Hill style, straight grip). I kind of like the medium to medium low grip. You will have to figure out what fits you best.

Shoot what you have for now unless it is too heavy. Then I'd try to find a light draw to start with and work up. Form is critical when you are learning.

I went too Black widow Archery in Nixa MO. last summer and shot longbows and recurves back to back Same poundage bows same arrows.  I could not believe how well I shot the recurve, I shot the longbow alright to but the recurve was incredible.  Who knows maybe one bow made more power than the other and the arrow just fit the recurve better or maybe ones shelf was cut to center and the other not therefore requiring a different arrow.  Having said that I am still shooting my Montana longbow and I am happy with my shooting and it looks cool to.
