Any one know of machinery made for tapering shafts? Thanks Dave

Dave,
If you check the "how to" section from the main page you may be able to find something.  Mount two pieces of aluminum angle iron w/sand paper to a board with the amount of taper you want.  Chuck your shaft into a drill and drive it into the "wedge" formed by the angle iron and it will taper your shafts.

I do it with a 10" disk on a tablesaw. Works great! ...O.L.

I built a jig and used a 10" disk on a table saw like O.L. Works like a charm.

Tim's Taper Tool is the first and best one I've ever seen.  It will taper both point and nock ends as well as doing single or barrel tapers. You use this jig in conjunction with your own table saw or combination belt and disc sander.  You can purchase it through many traditional archery suppliers.

Anyone got a pic of the jig.I have two sanders with 10" disc.I've been free handing them and that ai'nt to good. Not very consistent..I'am sure the jig would slove that problem.Auotbows is there a pic of Tim's taper tool somewhere I could look at ?? thanks guys.bowdoc

Boedoc, go to Wes Wallace bows site under accessories, both of them are there. Bull Mountain a sponsor here sells both taper tools. Flint

Bowdoc, I just use a wood "fence" adjusted with clamps. Nothing fancy. A piece of rubber tubing in a drill, chuck up the shaft and go at it. I set it close, see what I've got, adjust the fence a time or two till I got the taper I want....O.L.
