I am going to start building my own strings and am trying to deside what serving I am going to get. So, I would like to know what type of serving you like the best and why. I would like to also know if you have had problums with any type of serving. Thanks, Steve

benny

I like .024 Halo. It is slick and will outlast the string.

diamond braided .026 serving. very durable and long lasting. You can use it on any string material. Halo serving is nice as well. The nylon thread serving is prone to fraying and does not last long. Plus, it is too thin for many nocks.

The strings I have bought, that are really nice, the people have used .024 Halo.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

LBR

I like #62XS.  Halo is a good one also.

Chad

SCATTERSHOT

Another vote for Halo. It has a self lubricating quality to it that makes for a smooth release.

A lot of people seem to like Halo, However, I have herd some say they have had problems with it slipping. Do you think there would be a problem with Halo slipping especially on a thin string or if it is double served? Would #62XS or Dimondback be better on thin and double served strings?

Jwilliam

.030 Brownell Diamondback serving. I use Classic nocks, and get a good nock fit on my strings with this serving.

I double serve Halo on 8 strands of D97 with no problems.  Short serving over long with the wind in opposite directions so they don't sit in each other's grooves.

Other than Halo i only tried the stock string serving on my X200 and i'm not sure what that was served with, but the Halo flies off the fingers in comparison to the stock serving.

Love the stuff, i'll be staying with it.

Halo .024 for D97 and and No.62 .018 for dacron.

Bear Heart

How thick can you get Halo.  I need large sized serving for my nocks to fit right.

Halo comes in .30, I need to find a spool of it myself.

Dave,
You can order the .030 Halo directly from BCY. They have a bunch of colors too. Ask for Judy, she usually takes all the orders.  Super people!  bcyfibers.com 860-632-7115

Yeah, but they have a $25 minimum and I only need one spool to last me forever and a day for the most part.

Every string that Ive had made with Halo by the professionals who sell them has ended up slipping so I dont really care for it even though it does give a good release...like Diamondback about the best.
