This hunt, is it on public or private property?? I`m  new to New Jersey hunting season. I bought a 08 license an is it valid for jan 09 or is it good just through the calender year? THANKS
Yes it is on public land (State Land). A NJ lic is only good from January 1 to December 31 of that year. You would need to get a 2009 NJ Lic.

Larry, that's kool now we have another spot..

I could probably sneel out for one or two weekends towards the end of the month. I'll be moving the first week in January so the honey do list will be pretty long I'm sure.
The zone 6 spot fits the bill for me too. Larry-where is that at wildcat ridge right? I hope to get some scouting on hamburg mtn this coming year as my new house will be adjacent to a small piece of it on the back side in vernon. Skippy

I might be able to swing it once a solid date is set.  It is a long haul for me, though.

doug A where do you live at?

I come from brick in ocean county and my carpool buddy pat lives 20min north of me.

I would like to make it at least once.I don't know how long I can last with walking and driving through woods with a bum foot, but at the least meet everyone.I might hitch a ride with lodestar.

Sal,I appreciate it.I want to try to do my part driving just might be alittle slow.Looking forward meeting everyone,Frank.

Frank,
It would be a good thing to slow the drives down anyway.

bentpole

bentpole will be there. Absolutely. I just hope the Tri-State Terrors will be there. I'll have to remind Alex as well. Just spoke to Alex he's in. He said the middle of the month might be tuff with work though.

yea the faster the drives the faster the deer move...last year they were moving mach 3!

these are pushes not drives guys.  the difference:

drive: walk through the woods lots of noise and at a fast pace to confuse the deer and have them scatter to be ambushed by waiting shooters.  all their focus is on the guys walking and so worried about getting away they dont focus on the standers.

push: queitly move through the woods slowely not to scare the deer simply "push" them in the direction you want.  the deer will keep on their normal travel patterns to gvet away from the unfamiliar approaching body.  they wont be frightfull though simply moving out of the area before the intruder finds them...normally walking.

a drive they high tail it out and regain composer later a push they simply move out of the area and circle back at a later time.  they move slowely and without many fears of danger.  we need to push not drive...even with a gun its not easy shooting a deer moving 75mph let alone a trad bow.

Skippy yes wild cat is where I'm talking about. Been hunting there for a few years and Reiner and I know the area pretty well.

Sal would Eric be interested in going? I haven't heard from him in a while and I hope that he is doing well.

Don't forget to let Jerry and Vaughn in on this too.

Deadbolt, I'm down in Cumberland County.  Millville to be exact.  It's about a three hour drive from here to the Rt. 80 bridge.  I would go up the NE extension of the PA Turnpike.

Thanks Sal I'm glad Eric was able to get out and do some hunting. Happy for him on that deer too! Good shooting Eric!

I just got bad news from work. I have to work the day after Christmas,so much for the small game outting I wanted to do with the Reiner unless we go in the morning at Wild Cat. I also have to work Jan 2, 2009 on the afternoon shift.

I am off on Christmas Eve. Anyone want to hook up and try hunting with me?
