I'm thinking of trying these heads - what type of targets do you guys use? I'd like to see how they fly before I launch them at Mr. T.

I've seen pictures of "straws" on the Guillotines, what is their purpose?

The straws are there to act as sheaths. A buddy of mine tried them out of his compound and he never could get them to fly right. He said they shot good for the first ten feet then it was straight to the ground. Tripper

I got the bullheads and they fly great.  For a target I hung a racketball from a string and shot at it.  The ball won't last long at all.  If you hit it square it will slice it into 3 pieces.  Then I just hung what was left making a smaller target.

I have the bullheads, the small ones. Used an old pillow as a target. The heads would tear a large hole in the pillow front but would not pass through. No damage to the head. Shot well out to 20 yards. Hit same spot as my woodsmans.
Black widow psa 49 # at my draw lengty. I ended up hunting turkeys with my woodsmans, did not feel confortable about a body hit with the head and don't feel accurate enough to just shoot at the head.
Maybe next year.

I have the 125 grain bullheads on cedar arrows and have shot them at 15 yards. They seem to fly very well and shoot just a tad low. I have been using a open layered foam target. My buddy lives on the river and shoots his guillotines into the water to practice.

You can turn the blades around on the bull heads to avoid dulling them, they fly great.

ive been shootin the 125 guillitines for 3 years. they fly perfect if your bow & arrows are tuned good. i took the foam out of an old couch cushion ,works great & doesnt damage the little straws on the blades either.

I tried both and greatly prefer the 125gr Bullheads.  I turn the blades around, but they'll still chew a hole in just about everything.  

I need to try that old couch cushion, I lost a blackhole target in short order last season.

for a target,I wanted something of the same "texture" as a turkey neck. I tried the round foam tubes kids use at the pool. they come in bright colors,are about 1 1/2" thick, and 3 feet long. got them at wal-mart toy/pool section.

Watch some of those vids - I know there are some trad kills in there.  It looks like the pop-up blind is the way to go for turkeys.

I have a question about the guillotine, do y'all think it would be effective against smaller animals? Squirrel, rabbit, dove (on a fluflu), fox, etc? I would think the larger broadhead would increase kill zones. But I'm probably wrong  :p

I think I am going to try the Bull Heads this year.  At 10-15 yards that seems doable wit trad gear.

Plenty of guys have had great luck with them. I was not one of them. 2 mornings in a row I hit a Tom, dead center square in the neck, just below the head. Both times the heads bounced off and the turkeys trotted off " putting". Both were on video and both hit exactly center. I was using a 49# longbow. I think if my shot was off center, it would have lopped off the heads. How it hit though was like a slap instead. Later that second morning, I ran a snuffer through a big toms head and he didn't go anywhere.
I'll stick with my 3 blade heads. That work for body or head shots.

I'll see if I have it somewhere. I have a draw full of tapes. I'll see if they are labeled. I never loaded any unsuccessful hunts on my computer.

There's a couple others out as well. Muzzy makes one now that the blades fold down to fit in quiver. Solid makes a single bevel with 4 inch cut weighing 200 grains.

Ok, so I foundvthe tape and put in on my computer. I don't have time to edit and upload it so I just filmed my computer playing it. This was a jake on the first morning I used these. The noise you here is my daughter playing in the background.
