Just an FYI for all you 'green' people out there. If you want to keep those hunting boots smelling good all season, or de-smell the coats, etc., read the morning paper. Then, crumble up the morning paper and stick it in those boots for a day or so and the odors will be absorbed by the Daily Gazette.

Crumbled newspaper is also good to line the bottom of a back quiver and keep broadheads sharp.  It's cheap so you can replace it when needed.

Your old newspaper also cleans windows, deodorizes clothes drawers in bureaus, and can take away those musty smells from old clothes, boots, etc. A miracle product at a throwaway price.

Good advice George. We keep a copy in the outhouse.

I'll have to try this, as it's gotta beat that gritty baking soda in the boots bit.


It's not near as "green" but there's a antiperspirant out there called  Certain-Dri.  I'm generally a very very sweaty person.  I've even looked into surgery. Naturally, it's way too expensive to be feasible.     It is hands down the strongest stuff out there, it's easily as good as the prescription stuff. (I've tried them all.)  

It's too strong for some people's armpits but should be fine for anyone's feet.  Dry feet are warm feet, dry feet are 'less' stinky feet.

George has us covered now for those us who already have stinky boots...and outhouses! lol

I use news paper to line the cat's litter box.  The cat told me that was redundant!

George I've never considered using newspaper to reduce the oder in my boots, but I can honestly say that everytime that I ever go to the field (USMC) I bring some along.  Ball it up as George suggests and stuff it into your boots and your boots that you could literally pour water out of will be dry in the morning.

Interesting idea, I do know that when you wash your running shoes you used to be advised to stuff them with wadded up newspaper and formed to approximate size, rather than throwing them in the dryer.

I think the Peet Boot Dryer is the ticket here, boys.  I use the darn thing even for my athletic shoes and dress shoes.  Works great and greatly reduces the odor.  Best $40 or so I've spent in a long time.

George -- Aside from the truly useful advice, you set this up for jokes, right? In today's world, we can't have too much humor. Any topic that disallows humor is suspect, to say the least.
