I need a little guidance for a better set up.  Right now I shoot an old Bear Grizzly, 50#@28", I draw 29", my arrows are 30" long 2216 XX75's, 125gr heads and 40gr lead washers.  I had the string replaced and the brace height is 6 ½"ish (too short, I know).  With that, I can hold consistent 3" groups at 20 yards.  However, the arrows and weights are way too heavy and I would like to go carbon and use a different broadheads.  I want to try and optimize the performance of my bow.  I get a little overwhelmed when I read everything that other people do to tune arrows and such, so I would like some direction.  As far as game, deer and turkey mostly, and then smaller fare, woodchucks, rabbits, coon, etc.  Thank you.

I think your set up is fine, if it works for you leave it be.  If you like to tinker, tinker away and share your results.

If you shoot consistent 3" groups at 120 yards, why would you want to mess with it? Is the bow exceptionally noisy? If not, I think you have it tuned.

As Ben said, tinker away if you must, but don't expect much improvement in group size. Heavy is good. It means better penetration as a rule, though I prefer a smaller diameter (1916 or 2016 aluminums).

If you twist your string, you can raise the brace height. That seems really low for a Griz. I usually like 7 1/2 to 8" but Bears were often braced much higher from the factory (up to 10" in some cases). Lower brace height increases cast, but can increase noise as well.

Good luck with the bow. I like the old Grizzlies, fine shooting bows.

What makes you write your arrows and weights are way too heavy?
