I would guess you got one lung.
I have found with goats that they bed down pretty quickly and die when hurt, but if you push them, they seem to be able to go for ages.

I'm thinking now that he was pretty hurt.
He stood there not 20metres from us after the shot. His mob was long gone by the time I attempted the second shot.
