First, thanks Derek for the tutorial, I really enjoyed it.  The question is, I've tried splicing white "factory" feathers to the back of wild turkey feathers and had problems with the width.  The wild turkey feathers are much wider than the store bought, any good way to deal with this?

I haven't done it that way Paul, but here are a couple ideas.  First grind the turky feather quill so it's not so wide.  OR what I do when I use wild turky feathers is I strip the wild turky feathers as taught by Micky Lotz here.

Then I attach the wild turky to the quill of the store bought feather.

I would try and find some other factory full lenght feather that might have a section in the middle that is as thick or close enough, ive got some that are compatible with the wild feathers i have.

Yes Van, that's what I meant.  After splicing I've got a rear section (factory) that is thinner than the wild feather.  It works but adds a little noise in flight.  Improves visibility a whole lot, which is what I'm really after.

Hmm well bowless, I don't have any experiance with that problem myself as I do my splicing with full length preground feathers from trueflight or gateway.  I have worked with wild turky and even canada goose and domestic goose feathers.  But never tried to put domestic turky with wild.
