Has anybody tried these?I'm looking to put together 3-4 doz wood arrows that I can shoot at sm game with and not cringe when it's lost forever.

Where do you get your shafting??What kind?
Any suggestions appreciated thanx

I bought about 2 doz directly from the factory.

Straight, durable and heavy, 490 grains for 30" BOP.
Visually they are not the nicest shafts.

I would recomend them.

Take a look at Ash and Douglas Fir.  Ash shafts can take a good beating.

I used the hex pine shafts and they would split down the glue lines when i hit something hard.  Cheap and you get what you pay for.  JMO

My experience with Hex shafts has been pretty good.

Though they are a little difficult to straighten, I must say that they have proven themselves pretty tough, for me.

If I was looking at just getting some wood arrows for small game Ash would be the choice. Tougher than fir, poc, sitka, hex pine, and lodgepole and still reasonable to work with.  Get ahold of Bill Bonzar and Allegany Mountain Arrow Woods.  He'll set you up. dino

I think i read that Dr Ed likes hickory better than ash for tough and heavy. However, i got 100 ash shafts from Australia from some one that was stopping his production (one man private operation with impecable integrity and product). All were hand weighed and hand spined. Heavy is not required for small game but tough is. I like all my arrows the same, so they are all heavy.

I second Allegany Mountain Arrow Woods.  Ash  are super tough arrows. Ain't broken one yet.

Hex shafts I had needed straightening after nearly every shot!
