I like the looks and feel of the Sure-Grip,but a little concerned about moister getting under it and dicoloring/damaging the wood...anyone had problems with this ?

Honestly I have one on a longbow and it is so tight and a bit of a pain to get on that I don't see any way that moisture could get under it.  I mean they are totally snug fitting. I don't think you need to worry about that.....Dave

I have a Striker Extreme with a Sure Grip on it - bought it second hand.  I rolled the Sure Grip down a few months ago, just for a look.  The clear finish on the bow (gray dymondwood) is turning brown.  I assume the rubber is doing it.  I have not seen any issue with water under the grip.

Never had the problem with 'em. Used them on Widows, Howatts, and an ACS/CX.  However, some synthetic rubber materials will discolor some types of finish over time.

Had them on my Toelke bows for a few years now. No problems and I hunt in the rain a lot.

I've had one on my 46# Kanati for about a year. I just checked and there is no change to the grip at all. Same thing for my old Black Bear that I use for bowfishing.

I don't think it will be a problem.

They fit pretty snug, haven't had any moisture problems. But if you cover some woods, the color of the wood will be different.Just cover up an osage handle, the part under the grip won't age as fast as the uncovered part that see's sunlight.

What about the rubber smell? Does that affect deers' senses? I had one on a bow that I got and every time I handled it, it made my hand stink like rubber so I took it off. I figured if I could smell it, then so could the deer.

I had one on a Vision longbow. There was no moisture issues for me but it did discolor the finish/wood. Not sure if it was cause it protected the wood from UV or it was from the grip. Anyways, I never wanted to use one again.
