Put up my pop up blind yesterday evening. Hadn't shot out of it in a while. About 30 min after getting settled in I hear approaching footsteps in the leaves behind me.

At 15 steps I missed two birds with two shots! They stuck around after the 1st miss so I gave it another try. Glad they were clean misses.
I need to practice more out of the blind!
I missed my first shot at a nervous bird from my stand a week ago.

Those turkeys can be tough. Small targets and they are always moving. I had a friend who once shot a full quiver of arrows (six shots) at a flock and never drew a feather.

Turkeys can be tough...and shooting out of a pop-up blind is "different"...it took me awhile and a lot of practice to get where I could hit anything out of a blind...You'll get the hang of it..

I put up my blind in the back yard to try and figure out what is going on. My arrow flight is jacked up! Under ideal conditions and a perfect release they fly good.  Going through the mesh they go crazy some times. I hate the thought of going to another bow/arrow set up this far into season. I lowered my brace height about 1/2" and I think that may have some thing to do with it. Didn't adjust my nock set. I'll do some tinkering before I totally regroup.

Oh... make that 0-5 now? Two shots from tree stand. The flock actually let me turn and get another arrow from my quiver (poor placement) and shoot another shot!

I realized this time that it was some jute twine hanging from my ghillie/leafy suit sleeve AND my face mask that through these shots off.     Bad time to learn of suit trimming problems!

I think I'll stick a couple more arrows in my quiver just in case. I had another small flock come in and I didn't shoot because I only had the arrow on my string and one more in my quiver.

I could just see me gathering up my arrows when all the deer in the area decide to show up.     I'm going to practice a lot more and double check my set up. Shooting at my 3D target in the yard I was doing great out to 20 yards with this exact set up WITH the broadheads I'm using. Not sure what's up.

Update. I had lowered my brace height and had needed to lower my nock set too. Once I did this my arrow flight improved a lot. I'm going to give them another try this morning. I've heard that with turkey I can get away with removing the mesh. That would help a lot too.

0-3 so far this fall for me.  But just to have the chance is great.  Something about these birds just get's in your blood.  Hell I can have a Pope and Young buck at 20 yards and a gobbler comes along, forget about the deer.

Now I'm 0-8! Shaved feathers on a tom at 7 yards from my pop up  :knothead:  ! I'm just not picking a spot I guess.

you would be surprised how much a turkey ducks at the shot. They dip their bodies way down. After I found this out by watch my videos, I started shooting them right above the drum sticks. So far it has been 100%

I'm now 1-8! Made an awesome shot this morning! About 15 yards from my stand. I centered the wing butt and exited just above the drumbstick and broke the opposite wing. Snuffer did the trick! I also removed 50 grains of weight from up front and my arrows fly so much better! That helped a lot.

I think Buff has something here, after missing a few, I said to myself aim for the big part of the lower body, but havent had a chance to give it a try yet, I hope to soon,

When I shot this bird it was one of those shots that seems like you're watching some one else shoot. The draw, the anchor, and thump! The bow seemed to shoot on its own. It was a fairly long shot for me but couldn't have been better placed. It's good to have that one under my belt.
