I've tracked deer in the mountains for many years. Jump them out of their bed in the morning,waking them up with a rifle shot!!!!! (a miss LOL) Track them all day either not getting a shot or just plain not catching up with him.....

I'd come back the next morning and kick him out of the same exact bed he was in the day before. Deer are not stupid but they are creatures of habit.(just like people) You just have to figure out what makes them tick.
