I test shot a martin rebel recurve 45#@ my 28" draw, 52"AMO length...im 5"10 155lbs and by traditional standards this bow should be too light/short for me.  BUT i liked it so much that i bought it and it is one sweet shooting little bow.  I have/can shoot a 55# longbow and my 50# bear grizzly, but theres just something about the size and feel of the draw on this bow that just feels right.  Anybody else prefer a shorter lighter bow? if so, what kind of performance can i expect on deer? Im using easton legacy 2117's with 125gr zwickey eskimos.  I've also used the easton epic 500 carbons with 125gr magnus broadheads and they are pretty fast, but i think the heavier aluminums are gonna be the ticket. Any thoughts?

I like the short bows for hunting out of tree stands.

The shortest i have now is a 54" longbow thats 46#@28". I haven't killed anything but 3-D targets with it yet, but i will.

The longest bows i have are 58". I have found that i shoot them as well as the longer one's say 60-62".

I am 6'2" and shoot a 52" K-mag 48# at 28" when I'm hunting in a tree stand. It's not terribly fast, but it puts the arrows where I'm looking.

My 56" Shrew would fit that bill except its pulled to 32"    , hence 59#.....

I have a 50" 53@26 original shrew that I purchased from Ron at last years Kalamazoo expo. He said there were only 2 made at this length.  It is one of the handiest little grab-n-go bows I have. Got a woodchuck and a couple rats around the farm with it.

I am sold on the "light&short" concept. I shoot them as well or better than full sized bows, and I think they are superior for hunting.

The longest bow I've had was 58". Right now I'm hunting with a 56" bow that I made pulling about 48# at my 27" draw. I have a new Kanati on order 56" 45# at my 27" draw. I hunt from both a tree stand and the ground. When on the ground the cover is very thick. Short bows are just the ticket for me. I would like to try a 64" longbow just for kicks and to find out if the longer bows are really that more accurate. John

I dig 'em! They are proven in archery history. There are new materials and great design conceptes out there that are bringing the short bow back to the forefront of the hunting community. The recent ground blind movement has started a revival in the short bow. Some bowyers kept building the short bow in the "not so vogue" years, but there are several well established and some up and coming bow builders that have taken to the utilitarian design of the short bow. I believe it does it all well. Don't get me wrong. I didn't say it does it better, but well. In true hunting distances, the short bow is more than accurate enough to do "it's" part in the harvest of game. The short bow is not a niche, but an honest hunting weapon. AND, they make a great conversation piece.

56 in. Fedora 569 T/D  Maccassor Ebony riser all bamboo limbs, says 52@28 but scales  closer to 47@28, sweet pulling bow, I draw it a little over 29 in. and no stack or pinch.. have drawn it past my ear still very smooth.

I have 2 Shrew Classic Hunters, a two piece takedown 56" 48#@29 1/2", and a one piece 54" 52#@29 1/2". Neither one stacks at that draw length, and they shoot plenty fast and accurately and are light and convenient for tight places. The Shrews are not as consistently accurate as some of my longer, heavier bows, but as Brent says, they are more than accurate enough for harvesting game at the distances I am willing to shoot. I really like them. Very well made and fun to shoot.

I shoot a Bear Kodiak Magnum 52"long 45# at 28"
I love it.

54" Treadway Black Forest 50@28 and a 56" RER Vortex 48@28. Both longbows and are my hunting bows. I shoot 1916 Lagacys out of them with 125 gr Grizzlies. The Grizzlies weigh in at 184 gr with the long 42 grain insert.

took my buck this year with a 48"amo(43 actual) Pearson Ambusher, my other hunting bow is a 52". I much prefer them to longer bows.

I wasnt a real short bow kinda guy till i shot Brents sheepeater bow.Made a believer outa me fer shure.

im a fan of short bows really handy when it comes to hunting on the ground. shooting a super shrew, im keen to try one of the lil favorite recurve's i recon that would be a really nice bow, even though im hooked on the feel of the longbows

I shoot a 52" Shrew Stalker 52" 55#@27" (recurve).  i got it set up with some Vapor Carbonwood Blackhawks and WW with steel adaptors.  Stalker is a killer for a shorter draw length.
