Any advise on how to remove curred Barge Cement from a riser without damaging finish?

Real Barge cement should roll off with thumb pressure.  Try Goo Gone if that doesn't work.

Thanks for the reply. The glue won't roll off and  Goo Gone does not cut it. I guess the glue may not be Barge Cement.

Doubt it..

They make a thinner that will take it off, but it may do the finish also.  You could try this, but if you do I would just dampen a cloth with the thinner and rub the dried cement with the damp cloth and this would help protect the finish.

I have used this stuff called "Oops!" to remove glues.  I don't know if it will work in this case, but it is much stronger than goo gone.  I think it does affect finish a little - it seemed to remove some gloss from a riser I used it on.

I have used W-D 40 with some good results and it did not harm the bows finish.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried Oops but it whitened the finish in a test area almost immediately. Must be the Toluene. W-D 40 was a good idea. I forgot how well it cleans fishing rods. Unfortunately, it did not work on the glue. Having no luck chemically, I tried mechanical removal - carful use of razor blade followed by sanding & polishing with 2000 grit sand paper and 3M Ultra Fine Scotch-Brite pad. The mechanical removal worked very well with no damage and no evidence the glue was ever there.

try acetone. doesn't hurt the finish on my bow.
