I am starting convince my wife that I need another bow.  You see I don't have a longbow and certainly not a 2 piece longbow.  Please help me with a list of 2 piece longbows. Thanks.

I'll start you off with Black Widow and Cari-bow mostly because I really like their takedown system.  There are a ton of 2 piece longbows out there.  What did you have in mind?

If you get the wife talked into it would you please post your tactics in a "HOW TO" type format. I have been trying for some time now with little sucess.

Best of luck.

Border Griffon GL. The "GL" stands for "glassless" but it does have carbon in it=40% reduction in weight (more speed) but greater torsional stiffness (more forgiving). It keeps a true "D" shape and a HH handle so you get to shoot a real longbow!      :bigsmyl:    Two piece system is sleeve style like the BW. Sid, will cut it past center if you want. (I didn't).

Howard Hill Archery and Jay St. Charles make traditional longbows with a sleeve takedown. Excellent bows, both of them. The female socket is on the lower limb with the St. Charles, and on the upper with the Hill. That makes the Hill more waterproof, if that matters to you, and you can tinker with the arrowplate and rest more easily on the Hill.

Mike's advice is right on.

Good luck!

I have a Black Widow PL111 TD and I have a PLX TD on order that will be shipped next week (hopefully) and I love there TD sytem.
Black widow PLX 48@28
Black widow PSRX 48@28

Blackhawk

Here's a Morrison classic two-pc, which is now discontinued, but I had no problems at all with this system.

I'm a big, two piece longbow fan. Have three Massie "Longhorns" that are 2 piece takedowns but Jeff is no longer making bows, and mine are not for sale. Cari-bow, Howard Hill, Morrison and Black Widow all make 2 piece TD longbows that I would be pleased to own.   :archer:

I have a Wapiti "Spike" 2 pc. from J.K. Chastain. It is a fine bow and for a couple extra bucks he will make it with a Dual-Draw option. Mine is either 52@26  or  59@26, depending on what string I use and how I string it. Two bows in one, in a 2 pc. Shoots great at either weight too.

I have a Bow Bolt take down from Horne and a Robertson "hinge" made by Mohawk and really like both. Take a good long look at at the Mohawk.. Fine bows and great prices, might make the sell easier. I love them both and have had no problems

I have a 2 piece Tomahawk SS that has the Treadway T/D system very solid.

I'll second it MOHAWK. For a Traditional D style Longbow, dollar for dollar they can't be beat.Well made, easy to shoot/tune, fast, QUIET, and very reasonable priced.  As a matter of fact Vince is sending me a two piece to try out. This one has actionboo cores, red elm veneers and a cocoabolla/bocote riser. I never shot a two piece longbow with the connection hinge. I'll let you know what I think.Good Luck in your quest.

Thinking of a take down myself. Is there any difference in the feel or performance of a take down compared to a one piece?

LoneWolf73

McCullough Griffin 2 piece TD. Very nice shooter too.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways-BOW in one hand-ARROWS in the other-Body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming-WOO HOO! WHAT A RIDE!

Speaking for the Griffon GL. There is no difference in feel or performance-take down or one piece.
